Cyborg elevator
This is a project for a small art gallery, curated by two friends of mine. The gallery space itself is an elevator. The constant movement, the small size, and the flow of people create an inspiring situation. We invite fellow artists to create installations, which relate strongly to the setting. The the “CYBORG” installation makes the user of the elevator aware of the interdependence between the human and the machine; flesh and steel. No movement can occur without the interplay of the other part of this strange system, The installation is formed by algorythms found in the biological growth processes. It is flexible and keeps on wobling and resonating even as the elevator stops, giving an organlike character to the elevator. Materials used are a child play foamrubber truncated octahedron, and fexible opaque tube, welded into the branching shape.
